Thurgood Marshall International Airport (IATA: BWI), locally known just as BWI, is the busiest of the 3 Washington-Baltimore airports area. It operates with several domestic, international as well as some intercontinental flights, serving not only the Washington DC and Baltimore metropolitan areas, but also Maryland state and part of Virginia. For this reason, it has a lot of passenger traffic and is in the process of expansion and improvements.
The airport is a base for Southwest Airlines. During 2022, 22.8 million passengers passed through it. BWI is located in Maryland, 9 miles (14 km) south of Downtown Baltimore and 30 miles (48 km) northeast of Washington, D.C. (SEE MAP)

The Airport, whose official name is Thurgood Marshall, has a passenger terminal that is subdivided into five concourses: A, B, C, D and E and two levels (upper and lower). These lobbies form a kind of horseshoe, in the center of which is a large hourly parking garage platform and transportation services.

MTA MARK Train
It runs between Amtrak/Mark Station and several destinations such as: Washington's Union Station, Baltimore's Penn Station,New Carrollton, Seabrook and Bowie State stations, etc.
MTA Light Rail
MTA Light Rail Service provides light rail transportation between BWI and Downtown Baltimore, Timonium and Hunt Valley.

Route 75 links Baltimore Airport to Parkway Center, Airport 100 Park, Arundel Mills Mall and the Patapsco Light Rail Stop and Route 107 runs between BWI Airport and UMBC, CCBC Cantonsville, Bloomsbury & Frederick, Rolling & Security Blvd., Liberty & Millford Mill, and the Old Court Metro Subway Station.
Anne Arundel County
RTA is the company that connects all Central Maryland. Bus Route 501 has stops at Mall in Columbia, Snowden Square, MD Food Center, Dorsey MARC Station and Arundel Mills.
Taxi Services and Rideshare
Taxis are regulated by the Local County Government and by the Maryland Aviation Administration. Journey Time: about 20 minutes to/from downtown Baltimore. Taxi ranks are located outside of the Baggage Claim Area (Lower Level of the Terminal), close to doors 5 and 13. Lyft and Uber are available at BWI Airport.

Renting a car at the airport is a good idea, especially if your final destination is the Washington DC area, due to the long distances that make up the metropolitan area.
